aim
In order to show the best bedside lighting set by the pattern of using throughout analyzing the existing design.

research question
What can be the considerable design for lighting users when lighting design communicate with them?

intended audience
Domestic users (18~60) reading book before sleeping.
Lighting & furniture manufacture (e.g – ikea, Philips lighting, magis, vitra, viabizzuno, etc), designers.

key areas of investigation
-Lighting technology solutions (led & halogen / light colour and brightness)
-User behaviour pattern & user psychology about lathing and lighting design
-Current multi-functional furniture and what function do they have?
-User life style through age, occupation, and sex
-Environment of users , overall dispositions of user , dispositions of user before sleeping
-Environment mood through lighting design

role of the project in your personal development?
To develop further skills and knowledge in the area of lighting technology (include led and halogen)
Better understanding of users’ experience (reading a book / transforming shape or user / listening to music etc) in interacting with lighting design.
Provide appropriate portfolio material to pursue next level of career in lighting design.

rationale
- The communication between design product and its users means that design can understand and provide the need of users and the pattern of using.
- For example, it provides the optimal condition for users while they read or sleep.
- The mixed function of this lighting design can increase the life quality of users in bedtime whereas the original bedside design remains simple in function.

- The structure of design is able to change in shape dimensionally according to user’s different needs.
-An enhanced relationship with object and user encourages the user to value the object more, hence increasing its useful life.
